Bleed is a term that refers to printing that goes beyond the edge of the sheet after trimming. In other words, the bleed is the area to be trimmed off. The bleed is the part on the side of a document that gives the printer a small amount of space to account for any movement of the paper, and design inconsistencies. Artwork and background colors can extend into the bleed area and after trimming, the bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final document.
It is very difficult to print exactly to the edge of a sheet of paper/card, to achieve this it is necessary to print a slightly larger area than is needed and then trim the paper/card down to the required finished size. Images, background images and fills which are intended to extend to the edge of the page must be extended beyond the trim line to give a bleed.
Bleeds in the USA generally are 1/8 of an inch from where the cut is to be made. The paper is trimmed after printing to ensure the ink covers fully to the edge and does not stop short of it.
We use the highest quality materials,13oz 1000 denier for single sided and 18oz 1000 denier for double sided banners along with hemmed edges, reinforced corners and grommets every 2 to 3 feet.
Please keep in mind that banners are considered “Temporary Signage” and not designed to last several years of continued use.
While we take every measure to supply a banner of the highest quality, we can not guarantee our outdoor banners in the wind. A full gale or strait line wind will destroy almost anything! Banners should be hung with the Shoestring Method to help spread the wind load out along the full length of the banner. Whenever possible, put your banner against a building so the wind cannot get behind it, securing each grommet with a fender washer to the structure.
Storing your banner is easy. Simply let it dry completely and roll it up and store in a dry area to prevent mold and mildew.
